You may remember us here on this Is Hell, talking to guests about the Panama Papers back in 2016,

Papers which revealed how a single legal firm helped the rich and politically powerful hide their wealth overseas to avoid

paying taxes at home. And home was often where people were suffering from a lack of

revenue which leads to a lack of social services and for the poor, an abundance of suffering.

Then there were the Paradise Papers that showed how billions and taxes were avoided by corporations like the manufacturer of Botox and the and The Walt Disney Company, Twitter, Uber, Walmart, and Yahoo, all of which hid their money in tax havens overseas.

Next was the FinCEN files, which we covered with one of today's guests colleagues.

Finn Sen included documents detailing how J.P. Morgan,

H.S.C. Standard Chartered Bank, Deutsche Bank,

and the Bank of New York Mellon, were quote,

moving staggering sums of illicit cash for shadowy

characters in criminal networks that have spread chaos and undermined

democracy around the world. Then this past Sunday, the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists

released yet another set of documents, the Pandora Papers, the biggest

trove yet of documents on the illicit and unfair global financial system

that is gamed by the wealthy and politically powerful, many of whom have campaigned

on cracking down on the very tax havens from which they benefit.
