Precisely 10 years ago, this month, in April 2013, a massive, multi-floor garment factory

collapsed.

It was pure chaos.

During morning rush hour, it simply collapsed.

This was in an industrial suburb of Dhaka Bangladesh, and at least 1,134 people were

killed, and they were mostly young women.

And in the rubble of that multi-floor garment factory, among the bodies of hundreds of

workers, were labels for some very familiar companies.

Zara, Walmart, Beneton, Mango.

All of them had a peril that was produced in this power of factories, which was called

Rana Plaza.

And it's the worst industrial accident on record.

And what was particularly striking about the Rana Plaza factory collapse was that it was

completely avoidable.

On the ground, everybody knew, like you could just see from looking at the building that

Rana Plaza was dangerous.

In fact, cracks in the buildings, foundations, and in the walls were reported the day before.

That very day, 10 years ago, the workers didn't want to go into the building.

We didn't want to go up in the factory, she says, but management forced us to go and said

there was no problem with the building.
