sci-fi, how do you say, sort of nerdy television fan, Star Trek, Star Wars, and the like.

I grew up watching a lot of police procedurals. And there are very few shows that I recall being finer when it comes

to police procedurals than NYPD Blue. It sort of rewrote what was possible in television,

in storytelling when it came to police and crime shows. And if you've not seen the

show before, I would encourage you to find it on Hulu. It is without question the finest

police show there ever was, at least for my generation. I've gotten into arguments with my dad

about it. He was a big fan of

Hill Street Blues. But NYPD Blue really broke a lot of ground and was really a true

pioneer in the TV police procedural space. And that largely was because of the mind of

David Milch and Stephen Botchko, the creators of the show.

And the reason I am sort of waxing poetic on and on about NYPD Blue and what a great show it was

is because our guest is one of the stars of that show, Andrea Thompson.
