Summary
Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks are joined by former NFL GM Tom Telesco for a deep dive into how front offices actually operate during the heart of the season. Telesco pulls back the curtain on scouting philosophy, draft-room dynamics and how teams juggle medical, character, and performance data as April approaches. Then the guys shift to the biggest NFL storylines of the second half, from surprise teams and fast turnarounds to which 2026 head-coaching jobs could be the most attractive.

| 0:11.7 | What's up, everybody? |
| 0:12.7 | Welcome to Move the Sticks, DJ, Bucky, and our good friend Tom Telesco, joining us today. |
| 0:17.0 | Tom, how are you doing, man? |
| 0:18.6 | I'm doing great. |
| 0:19.4 | Thanks for having for me on again. |
| 0:57.3 | Well, we're excited. I mean, we were just sitting here chatting before we went on about, you know, how underratedly long the NFL season is in comparison to the other football that we're around. High school football pretty much wrapping up. We've got college football heading towards championship weekend, but man, there's a lot of NFL football left. Yeah, that's the one thing with with rookies when they come in the league to try and explain them how long this league really is. Because essentially right now, we're at the midway point of this year. Yeah, if you're high school player, you're basically your season is either ended or you have one or two weeks left. If you're a college player, you're getting ready for conference championship games and potentially a bowl game. But as far as they have this many regular season games left, |
| 1:31.3 | and these are the most important games right now as you get towards the playoffs. Yeah, looking forward to some of these meaningful matchups. In terms of the scouting thing, by the way, real quick, we'll get to a bunch of other topics I want to get to on the NFL side of things. But, man, this is the time of year where I'm just starting to jump into the college guys. And you just, you know, before I watch the tape, let me call and at least get some measurables on some of these guys. It has not changed over the years, man. The listed measurables versus the verified measurables is a, is still a canyon, a grand canyon-esque gap between those that still exist. |
| 1:32.9 | Yeah, of course. |
| 1:36.1 | All the way back to high school when you get the height weights and speeds on players and then it goes into college recruiting and then, you know, strength coaches are great |
| 1:41.3 | at colleges. |
| 1:42.1 | They do a tremendous job, but a lot of numbers you get from the schools are kind of juiced as far as 10 times, 40 times, you know, bench presses, short shuttle three cone and even heightened weights. |
| 1:53.6 | But to me, I mean, that's verified information is so important when you start watching these players. |
| 1:58.3 | Like, I need to know, like, if an offensive tackle is he 285 or is he 305? That's a big difference. So having the real numbers is important. |
| 2:06.2 | You know, Tom, it's funny the other day, DJ and I were talking about body types. And I was |
| 2:10.9 | on the field before we played to Texas. I was looking at DeNeil Hunter and just how big and how |
| 2:15.8 | long he is. Do you still find value in that when |
| 2:19.1 | scouts go on the road and they're doing those first school visits, the body type of players? |
| 2:23.9 | So you're talking about the verifies, but also to be able to give you a visual depiction of what |
| 2:28.0 | a player looks like on the hook. Yeah, I think so. I think that's one of the areas scouts. |
