I'm the business editor of the spectator, the weekly business columnist.

And it's my pleasure to welcome you here to Exeter.

That's where we are for the semifinal for the West and Southwest region.

If you've listened to our earlier podcast, you'll know we had a

record number of entries this year, more than 150 from across the whole country. And it's

particularly interesting to me that we've had entries from quite small towns and remote places

across the country.

So today we've met an entrant from Cornwall,

another one from Shepton Mallet,

and a third one from Swindon.

So one observation you can certainly make this year

is that entrepreneurship is widely spread geographically.

It isn't clustered in the way that you might sometimes expect it to be.

There are entrepreneurs everywhere, and that must be a good thing.

So I'm joined by three guest judges today.
