Each week, I plan to bring you in-depth insights into the creative process of storytelling. And folks,

wow, David Lynch is an absolute hero of mine, and it was fantastic

to do this podcast with him twice. So let me set the scene. It was a rainy night in 2006,

and the premiere of Inland Empire was going on inside the L.A. County Art Museum's movie theater.

And David and I sat outside under an awning,

and it was just the two of us. Literally no one else outside because it was raining. I had an

extension cord pulled as far as it could go to get power so that I could get a proper recording

for both of us with the best of my equipment in 2006. And it was really a fun conversation. We had a very strict

timeline to adhere to so we could make it into the theater for a Q&A after the premiere,

and you know, it's wild. That theater isn't even there anymore. It's since been destroyed,

demolished, and a new one is being built in its place. But just like the movie Inland Empire, which jumps around in

time, that's what this podcast is going to do a little, because here we are in 2022, an Inland

Empire has been remastered. It's absolutely beautiful, and it's had a theatrical release, and later

on in the year, it'll make a digital and Blu-ray and 4K release.

And David Lynch was doing a little more press for it just to kind of commemorate the release.

So of course, I was elated to get some more time with him to ask a few more questions.

And you'll notice the sound changes ever so slightly once or twice in this podcast.

And that's really just between me editing back and

forth between 2006 and 2022. But look, I love this movie that has a cursed screenplay as one of
