I'm John Bachelor with my colleague Gregory Coppley Defense and Foreign Affairs.

He's in Perth, Australia, as on to read the map is the centerpiece

of the Indo-Pacific defenses, the day one and day two of war with China over Taiwan.

The Air Forces are now in the mix. It's not just the Navy to

respond. It's the Air Forces with their array of aircraft, refueling aircraft,

based out of Australia, the Northern Territory of Australia will

be an anchor for Indo-Pacific defences.

The Second Island Chain starts in the federated states that would be Palau, Micronesia, and the Marshall Islands.

Guam is north of there and that's the big base in the Pacific.

But Gregory, the Air Force has taught me with the reef or pack for next summer.

They're going to bring in elements from Alaska from the mainland, from Hawaii, and move around the Pacific

is that the Air Force does not believe it will be able to land the fields that takes off on day one or day two and they need secondary fields

They need Australia to participate what I've learned is that this is a work in progress. Is it enough to tell the Chinese

were serious that we're preparing for war? Does that make them back off, Gregory?

Well, there's no question that it does have an impact on Beijing, and Beijing's main

concern is the Orcus treaty arrangements which are making this possible.

The Australia, the United Kingdom, United States

treaty because that really coordinates US, Australian, and British forces not just in the

Indo-Pacific but also in the Atlantic and in all and also in the polar regions

which are very very important to Beijing. I mean before we get to the aspect of whether

the PRC is capable of launching a major offensive operation against the Second Island chain or down as far as Australia and then

including Japan that whether that's even feasible or
