Indiana Jones in the dial of destiny is the fifth and apparently final film starring

Harrison Ford is everyone's favorite globetrodding whip-cracking Nazi-punching archaeologist.

Ford was 79 years old during the shooting of the film, which finds Indy on the cusp of retirement,

when he's forced to chase an ancient artifact around the world to keep it from falling into the wrong hands.

I'm Glenn Weldon and today we're talking about Indiana Jones on the dial of destiny on pop culture happy hour from NPR. Joining me today is Kristen Meinzer.

We then jump ahead to 1969 Manhattan,

and he's about to retire from his gig as an archaeology professor

when his goddaughter Helena, flea bags Phoebe Waller Bridge,

shows up looking for an ancient device,

specifically one half of the Archimedes' dial

which is rumored to act as a kind of time compass,

but only if its other half can be found.
