Indiana Honeline himself, long in the field looking for treasures he comes in the

dusty chapeau the bag of tricks the bullwip go down. Indiana welcome you found

something in the wet on the West Bank and they Hebron Hills and it looks heavy.

What is it?

It is a very rare 9,000 year old stone mask indeed found in the South Hebron Hills

right near the Jewish settlement of Malach Hever and this is only one of 15 or so

that are known to exist most of them are in private collectors hands.

These are traced these kind of myths are traced to this area and were used in a belief system

developed during the transition from the late Stone Age to the agricultural society and the facial features vary on

the mask but they can represent a specific person or an ancestor. The mask also

had holes on the side where it was believed that may have been

worn or hung on something. It's from a single piece of stone, highly polished with eye holes

and facial features including teeth and cheekbones.

And what's interesting, it's a new exhibition in the Israel Museum called Common Ground

where they paired archaeological finds with contemporary Israeli art.

So this Hebron Hills mask is displayed alongside a modern mask

by an Israeli artist created using 3D printing technology.

The same is done in all sorts of art forms and artworks that are matched in this exhibition.

But the mask itself is a unique discovery and it's completely intact and I hope everyone will get to see it.
