I know that there's a couple stories about the crazy tax hike on cigarettes in Indiana,

a 201% tax hike.

This is designed to get people to stop smoking.

You got to pay like $2 more per pack or something.

This is something that was baked into the budget back in April,

but it actually is happening now,

and it's causing a lot of people to not only do stories about this,

which TV, our television partner, did a story about this, but just in general, I assume

it might be something that some people are talking about, especially if you're a user

of tobacco and nicotine and cigarettes.

And there's a caveat here.

I know that Indiana is still one of a very few places, certainly in the

Midwest, that does very little in the world of legalized marijuana. And maybe that's part of the

reason that that cigarette smoking is is maybe more prevalent. It's not terribly more prevalent

in Indiana than other places. But you do see some cigarette use go down in places like Illinois when they legalize pot.

But I'm not saying that's a good thing, by the way. I'm not trying to advocate for it.

Because I found this study. I was thinking about this topic and about cigarettes and people complaining. And I don't smoke. I've never smoked. So it's kind of something where from the periphery, I can, I guess, be more judgmental

than I intend to be because I've never been addicted. Many family members of mine smoke

cigarettes, my little brother, my mom, et cetera, et cetera. I know it's really hard to quit and whatnot,

but I know it's in your interest health-wise to not be a smoker. But the thing that I thought was uniquely important was some marijuana data that's out there.

The amount of people in our society that are daily marijuana users has officially surpassed

the amount of people who are daily drinkers, at least to willingly admit this.
