Welcome, folks. We are in game week. We are ready for the season opener. Michigan is traveling

to South Bend, Indiana, to play Notre Dame. This is going to be a great matchup. We're going to

break it down a little bit today. We're going to talk to Mike Torrico, but 40 years ago.

Hi, everybody. Today, the Michigan Football Network has moved its microphones to one of the

hotbeds of intercollegiate

football, South Bend, Indiana, and we're right on the edge of the hole that Newt Rockney

planned, dogged and built and paid for as he started Notre Dame out on their glory of football

pilgrimage with his fantastic football teams of the roaring golden 1920s. Yes, sir, Newt, Rockney, and Notre Dame are synonymous with football,

and today the Fighting Irish put it all in the line. For the first time in 35 years against the team

that has beaten Notre Dame nine times in the 11 games played between these two great institutions.

And who's the other school? You know cotton-picking well, who I mean.

The team with the winningest tradition in the history of Big Ten football,

the team with the winning as tradition in the history of Big Ten Athletics,

the team with the largest collegiate-owned football stadium in the world,

and the only university in the entire nation that ranks among the top ten schools and academics as well as in football over the past 10 years.

That's right, the one and only University of Michigan.

Michigan won that day, and today we're going to break down and preview how we think

Michigan can come away with a win this Saturday in South Bend.
