Summary

Jean LaFitte was a French pirate who spent most of his active years in the Gulf. first attacking slave ships and then reselling the captured slaves, and later attacking merchant vessels and Spanish ships laden with treasure bound for Spain. He was known to have accumulated a pile of treasure, little of which has ever been found.
