We just finished producing today's broadcast.

My guests today were Senator Jack Reed, a Democrat from Rhode Island.

He's also chair of the Armed Services Committee.

Plus, we heard from Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger.

He's obviously well-known these days.

We're being one of the few Republicans to vote to impeach former President Trump for

his insight in the insurrection.

But he's also a veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

It was there both times in uniform.

Look, here's the thing you take away here.

What was interesting is that our two members of Congress disagreed on whether, on the idea

that basically we're leaving Afghanistan and it was a crushing defeat.

Senator Reed will make the case that our objectives at the beginning was to decapitate al-Qaeda,

get bin Laden, and keep terrorist attacks from happening.

And that largely, that has been successful.

If that's one measure of it, Congressman Kinzinger views it as yes, that's been successful,

but leaving will make that harder to keep from happening.

That now, without us there, that it turns into a safe haven and that history will repeat

itself.

We may not know who's right about this for decades, because one thing we know is that

the Taliban has a lot more patience than the American public does when it comes to things
