1:17.0	In 2019, the Australian-born founder of WikiLeaks was charged by federal prosecutors in the US with 18 counts
1:25.0	relating to the release of vast troves of classified US military records and diplomatic cables.
1:31.0	Assange was arrested in London and he has now been held for three and a half years in high security British prison.
1:37.0	He faces extradition to the US and the potential lengthy sentence.
1:41.0	But on Monday, the New York Times and four European news organizations called on the US to drop its charges against Assange.
1:49.0	The newspapers penned a joint letter that ended with the phrase, publishing is not a crime.
1:55.0	To talk about all this, my guest this week is Charlie Savage. He's a Washington correspondent for the New York Times
