I'm your host, Haley Rawl, and I'm so happy that you tuned in today.

We are going to be having a discussion about Mary, Mother of Jesus.

Virgin Mary, Blessed Mother of God. Mary is of varying degrees of spiritual significance across

Christian faiths and even beyond Christian faiths. But we are going to be focusing mainly

on who Mary is within a Mormon context. I actually set out to do this episode similar to what I did

with the Jesus historical deep dive episode. And I think that we will end up doing that somewhere down the line. But I was like,

you know, I want to talk about the Mormon side of things really quickly. I didn't think there would be

all that much there because I grew up a Mormon and Mary was not a big deal in my upbringing.

There was not a lot of talk about her lessons lessons about her, anything. And so I thought

that would be just a brief little blip. But it actually sent me down quite the rabbit hole to

research Mary within the context of Mormonism. And I just kept finding more and more and more.

And soon enough, I had plenty to talk about, just talking about who is Mary

two Mormons. And I love this topic because, yes, we're going to be talking about the idea of Mary,

the doctrines that surround Mary. But those doctrinal points led to really interesting thoughts and

opinions from other people as I was researching and things

that were coming up for me around how Mormons view the body, how they view women, purity

culture, God, and the character of God. It just led to a lot of really interesting stuff.

So that's what we're talking about today. I really tried

to rack my brain to make sure that I was remembering everything I may have learned about Mary.

But the only thing that I can remember that had any sort of impact on me is a single verse
