And then our text today is Luke's chapter 5, verse 1 through 5 in the New Living Translation

Version.

If you'll notice there these words, one day as Jesus was preaching on the shore of the sea of

Galilee, great crowds pressed in on him to listen to the Word of God.

And he noticed two empty boats at the water's edge, for fishermen had left them and were washing their nets.

Stepping into one of the boats, Jesus asked Simon, its owner, to push it out into the water.

And so he sat in the boat and taught the crowds from there. And when he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, now go out where it is deeper

and let down your nets to catch some fish. Master, Simon replied, we weren't hard all last night and didn't catch a thing.

But if you say so, I'll let down the nets again.

So we're speaking today from the subject.

If you say so, if you say so, you may be seated if you say so is what you say when you love somebody and you trust them

you respect them but you don't necessarily agree with them. It's like, I don't think

this is going to work. I don't think you really know what you're talking about, but if you

say so, it's like I'm yielding to you that maybe you know something that I don't know if you

say so. And it's our way of deferring

to the wisdom to the perspective to the vantage point that maybe they can see something that we

can't see at the moment that they know something that we don't know at the moment.

And we are yielding to their position.

We're yielding to their knowledge of something that we may not possess.

But we're saying, I can't see what you're saying right now, but if you say so, okay, if you say so.

And so here, you have to understand that this is Jesus talking to a professional fisherman.

Jesus is not a professional fisherman.
