The research shows that in terms of ousting authoritarian regimes, peaceful movements are four times more effective than movements that have violence and more lasting.

And a big reason is what Andre just said is it lowers the barrier to entry.

If we want more and more people to join us in advocating for a healthy, inclusive, multiracial democracy on a

sustainable planet, we don't want to say, you know, come join us and you can risk dying and

live as a fugitive for the rest of your life. We want to say, come join us and be a part of this

really vibrant community. So it allows us to scale and recruit more people if we are peaceful in our work. And

it's more successful. It's more likely to win. So it's better really on every account.

somewhere in its history. People who showed up, spoke out, and refused to be

quiet. And right now, that right, the right to peacefully protest, is under attack in ways that should

alarm all of us, regardless of where you sit politically. My guests today have spent their careers

at the front lines of activism.
