I want to talk about a misunderstanding people sometimes have regarding prayer. There are some

verses in the Bible that taken out of context can make it sound like we should get whatever we

pray for as Christians. These verses can be used by heretical movements like the prosperity

gospel movement in order to say, you should pray for health and wealth.

And if you don't get those things, it's not because God doesn't want to give them to you.

It's because you don't have enough faith.

I don't think there's anything wrong with asking God for temporal blessings like a good job or healthy children.

But how do we make sense of those verses where Jesus seems to be saying,
