Alright, today we're paying tribute to one of the biggest legends in pro wrestling history and us actually Japanese pop culture history, the great Antonio Inoki, a legend in the wrestling business, a member of the House of Counselors of the Japanese Parliament and beloved icon to the people of Japan and elsewhere.

Inoki passed away October 1st at the age of 79, Dave Meltzer from the wrestling observer newsletter and journalist Fumi Saito, my old friend from Tokyo, are joining me today as we remember the life and legacy of Antonio Inoki.

We talked about his start in wrestling, how he and giant Boba started on the same day training with the great Rickidosan. We discuss Inoki and Boba's lifelong rivalry and how they both left JWA, Inoki started New Japan at that time and Boba started all Japan.

We get into the how and why is of Inoki creating the IWGP championship, how that happened. The first ever IWGP championship tournament featured Inoki and Hogan, Hulk Hogan in the final match, Hulkster won that title that night.
