Let's get you caught up with today's seven stories.

The U.S. House passed a set of spending bills yesterday to end the partial government shutdown, which began early Saturday.

The bills were later signed by President Donald Trump. But Congress doesn't have long to prevent another shutdown.

The deal kicked off a 10-day sprint for Republicans and Democrats

to agree on policy changes regarding how ICE agents operate during immigration raids. Key lawmakers

in both parties are not hopeful it will get done. Senate Democrats have demanded that Republicans agree to require that immigration

agents wear body cameras and identify themselves. They also say agents should have to get warrants

for arrests and adhere to a code of conduct similar to those for state and local law enforcement.

House Democrats unveiled a similar list of demands yesterday,

adding that immigration officers need clear guidelines for the use of force.

But Republicans have already rejected some of the Democrats' core demands.

If they can't come to an agreement,

the government will partially shut down once again on February 14th.

Number two. The U.S. shot down an Iranian drone near an American aircraft carrier.

Officials said yesterday that the aircraft was acting aggressively as it approached the USS Abraham Lincoln.

It was shot down by a fighter jet about 500 miles from Iran's southern coast.

That carrier is one of about 12 warships and dozens of aircraft that the U.S. has recently sent to the region.

President Trump has said the buildup is a pressure campaign to reach a new deal to

restrain Iran's nuclear program.
