I'm Matt Fortuna after Notre Dame's 45-21 victory over Syracuse, which I think if you were just sort of box score surfing Notre Dame, you would think that this was totally fine and never dramatic at all.

It was a funky game for a while.

Notre Dame was down 7.3 before they kind of poured it on before half time and then really

started to blow out Syracuse in the second half before garbage touchdown.

But look, Ian Book's final home game, 30 wins of starting quarterback, Notre Dame's all-time record.

Matt, you had, I think, an awesome tweet that was a 33% of Brian Kelly's seasons

over the last 11 years have ended.

Well, the last 12 years, yeah, Cincinnati.

Yeah, have ended in undefeated regular seasons.

It's pretty wild.

But here, Notre Dame is, I don't,

I think this is a game that no one will remember. And I guess if there was something significant

about it, it's probably that Notre Dame did enough that on Tuesday night when the, the

college football rankings come out, struggled with Syracuse probably isn't going to be something

anyone says. No, it's kind of jaw-dropping to look at the box score and see that Syracuse at 200-yard

rushers on this Notre Dame defense. Yeah, after Notre Dame had not allowed a running back to hit, I think,

80 yards all season. Correct. And Notre Dame fails to cover the spread for the first time in four games.

I had 45-7. I guess I undersold Syracuse. Not close to my 50-0. No. But I'm saying if you

were smart and saw the live line with Nerame at 13 a half at one point or even at 17 and you

doubled down on both of them, good for you. I'm not patting
