The mystery and the miracle of the birth of Christ was the fulfillment of the promise that God would be with his people.

The very name Emmanuel means God with us, and Jesus Christ is our Emmanuel. In this study, Scott Pauley reminds us of our ever-present

Savior, God with us.

Do you know that the Lord is with you? I mean, do you have not just some knowledge in your brain, some mental assent to something

you've heard a preacher say, do you have the confidence and conviction in your soul at this

moment, at every moment, that the Lord God himself is with you.

Because I want you to know that is how God's people ought to live every day.

We're beginning to launch out into this study of these occasions in Scripture

where the Lord specifically said to people, I'm with you.

Remember, Emmanuel, God with us is the message of the whole Bible.

Now, we're skipping over perhaps the most famous of these references because we've done an entire

extended study on it already, and that is from the life of Joseph in Genesis 39.

Four times it says the Lord was with him. And then, again, it's repeated in the New Testament about Joseph, Acts chapter 7, verse 9,

but God was with him.

I think it's the key that's opened this truth to me.

But let's walk through the door now, and I bring you to the end of the Pentateuch, to the end of the

book of Deuteronomy and the beginning of the book of Joshua to show you that this principle and this

promise and God's presence was not just for Joseph, no, it was for all of the Lord's people.

Let's begin with some of the closing words that Moses gave to the children of Israel before he left

them. Deuteronomy chapter number 31 he's giving some of his

farewell address it's powerful you should read all of it but listen to verse number eight he says this

and the lord he it is that doth go before thee aren't you glad god's already in your future he's
