I've been in law enforcement for 16 years here in Texas, and I've seen my fair share of

tragic, creepy, and downright unexplainable things on the job. From murder scenes to suicide

calls to fatality accidents, sometimes a place just feels, well, different though. I've shared before about a death

notification call that I responded to, but this is another encounter that still sticks with me.

So, my partner and I were dispatched to a burglary and process at a local residence.

The homeowner, visibly shaken, met us outside in the front yard crying.

She said that she believed somebody was inside upstairs.

So we cleared the first floor and we made our way up.

As we moved room to room, we suddenly heard a sort of shuffling noise,

like someone sliding across the wooden floor. It seemed to be coming from the bathroom at the end of

the hallway. The door was locked. The lights were off. When we called out, we heard a woman softly crying inside. We told her that we were the police

and she responded, I'm scared, followed by something like someone is here. To reassure her, my partner
