Hello everyone and welcome to Girls Camp. I'm your host

Haley Rawl and I am thrilled you are here. Always have been, always will be. If you hear some fireworks in the

background that is because it is July 25th the day after Pioneer Day in

Utah where we celebrate our pioneer ancestors,

although that is kind of a problematic thing to do

in a lot of ways, but I'm not sure why people are still doing fireworks on the Tuesday afterward, and I wish they wouldn't, because sometimes I wicks up my babies. But be as it may us U Tons some of us U-Tons apparently

want to celebrate Pioneer Day as much as we possibly can. Today's episode, boy oh boy, is it a good one?

I have joining us today, Laura Danger.

Laura is an expert in all things domestic and emotional labor. We talk about gender

roles and how often there is an inequitable split of household work of emotional labor in heterosexual

partnerships.

I do want to disclaim that we mostly are speaking about heterosexual couples here so we are talking

about you know marriages partnerships with a man and a woman and I do apologize for that.

However, I think the reason that that's the case

is because it is often in heterosexual relationship dynamics

that these stereotypical gender roles come out.

That said, I do think that this episode has phenomenal resources and advice for anyone who is currently partnered, has been partnered, hopes to be

partnered someday. It's just a really helpful episode to talk about learning how to share the load equally in a

partnership which can be a very difficult thing to do. Laura and I talk about this
