A Twitter psychologist had some criticisms recently for the new biopic about tennis stars

Serena and Venus Williams and their father called King Richard, saying, did they seriously

make a film called King Richard about the success of Serena and Venus Williams, but it's

about their dad, Richard?

What the psychologist calling herself Dr. Jessica Taylor failed to recognize is that Venus and Serena were executive producers on the film,

which they made to honor the role he played in their extraordinary rise to success.

In Hollywood film, Black mothers are often lauded, but Black fathers are almost non-existent. That's because

Hollywood likes to portray our communities as populated solely by noble, overworked single mothers.

The narrative of a black nuclear family led by a strong patriarch does not suit their notion of

us. Our Twitter psychologist thought she was scoring a blow for women, but like many guilty

white liberals, all she ended up doing was aiding in the continued pop culture erasure

of strong black fatherhood.
