On Sunday, by God's grace, the first Sunday of 2025, we'll be starting a brand new sermon series entitled Parables.

And for the next several weeks, we're just going to go

through the parables of Jesus to get a deeper understanding of a kingdom revelation that he was trying

to give us. Because before Jesus died, he lived. And I think some of the problems with many

Christian is we know how to die, but we don't know how to live live and so this particular parable is possibly one of the

most popular parables that jesus gave depending on where you are in your christian journey you

could have heard of this parable before it's the parable of the prodigal son and we're going to walk

through this particular text and exeatid it so that we can get a greater understanding because I saw something that I didn't see before and I want to share it with you. Is it all right if I do that?

So a little backdrop of this, Jesus is giving a parable. So for our people who do not know what a parable is, it's when God is trying to give

a metaphor of a deeper kingdom meaning by giving a biblical example. So this particular parable

is of two sons. The younger son went to his father and said, Father, give me my share of my inheritance. if you read the text the father doesn't ask him

why he doesn't try to convince him to stay he doesn't try to convince him that i'm better for you

because true kingdom intelligence is when you recognize if they want to leave let them go

this is simply called free will so let's look at verse 13 Luke chapter 15

verse 13 if you're there shout them there it says not long after that the

younger son got together all he had set off for a distant country.

Somebody say distant.

Because you know how we like to do.

We want to do our thing.

We distance ourselves from kingdom teaching.
