Hello from Washington. I'm Chuck Todd, and this is the Chuck Toddcast. My guest today is somebody who I'm going to guess you've heard his voice. It's John Morgan. He's the founder of Morgan and Morgan, headquartered in Orlando. He's a personal injury law firm with offices nationwide. The odds are

pretty good you've seen his ad, and you would recognize the logo. According to Forbes, the firm spends

$350 million a year in marketing alone. I wanted to talk with John, though, because he's also a well-known,

I'm going to call him a political activist in Florida. Yes, he leans. He has

helped a lot of Democrats in the past. He's helped Joe Biden. But I think he's stubbornly not going

to be labeled with one of the two major parties. And we'll talk about that in a minute. He's,

he got the medical marijuana initiative passed. He funded that. And he also funded an initiative that raised the minimum wage in the state of Florida.

But he recently posted on Twitter that he was thinking of running for governor,

something Democrats have been trying to get him to do for a long time,

but he said he was going to do so potentially as an independent, sort of.

He actually said he wanted to roll out a new party, and he called it the capitalist party.

So if you heard my interview with Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan earlier this week, you might be starting to detect a theme.

I certainly believe that we are in a moment where people are tired of party labels.

And there is a lot of opportunity if you don't get trapped by one of the two major parties, because it definitely seems as if the political leaders are not meeting voters where they are. And the fastest

growing party in America, and Florida is no exception, are people not affiliating with either

the Democrats or the Republicans. So it's going to be a theme of this conversation before we get
