So Calcourri, newly elected councillor for Charles Dickens Ward.

And how you found the first couple of months with the official hat on them, Cal?

Nice and busy.

It's mainly seems to be about trying to find out who people are and how things work.

So there's been a lot of

induction and training sessions and being passed around from person to person to find out

whose responsibility particular issues are. But I'm slowly getting there. Got quite a bit of

casework lined up already, which is good because that's what I'm particularly keen at trying

to support people with, a lot of housing and benefit related stuff, which relates to my background. And I think that's what I'm particularly keen at trying to support people with a lot of housing and benefit related stuff which relates to my background.

And I think that's where, and we discuss this I think with Dave Ashmore, which is that

so much of the work of the local councillor is unseen, unpublished and unpublishable,

that's where a lot of your time seems to be spent.

Yeah, exactly.

And especially these days with all the cuts to local services,

I think counsellors quite often find themselves kind of having to pick up bits and pieces

and try and signpost people to where those services still exist
