Summary

The Northern Ireland Minister and self-styled Brexit hardman Steve Baker sits down with Matt and Times Political Editor Steve Swinford for a frank discussion about the severe depression and anxiety he has suffered since the EU referendum.

He also discusses Rishi Sunak's Brexit deal, being the admin on every Whatsapp group in Westminster, and says it's fanciful to think Boris Johnson could return to Downing Street.

Let's talk about the worst mistake I ever made. Should I tell you what I did? Go on.

1:10.0

So, on the same day, I noticed in the press somebody'd written me up as Brexit Hardman.

1:16.0

I've never gone back and found the article, so it's too painful.

1:19.0

And then in the evening, I was on Laura Coonsburg's inside the Brexit storm documentary.

1:23.0

I was pictured trying to persuade a conservative MP to rebel.

1:28.0

And when I got off the phone, I had a tear on my cheek and Kate McCann of Sky at the time had seen this.

1:34.0

And she said to me, offer, Steve, are you okay?

1:37.0

Yeah, yeah, everybody knows I'm Brexit Hardman, Steve Baker.

1:40.0

And then stupidly, end of the long day, tired thinking it was funny, which of course it wasn't.
