I'm like the asshole for ghosting my fiance in just a few short weeks at the end of our lease

my fiance and I have been together for five years now. Since day one, we have known

that we were it for each other and have known and talked about getting married. Over the years, we've

had a few major road bumps in our relationship that I have attempted to move forward from, but I feel

as if I'm doing a disservice to myself by being too passive and forgiving. Two years into our

relationship, I was working at a high paying job, happy in my career and on the path to making

what potentially could have been the highest salary I will ever see. I had an option to stay in the

city what I was working in and progress forward. However, he wanted me to move back to our hometown

so we could start our lives together,

which means getting engaged. My co-workers advised me against taking the promotion I wanted in my

hometown as that location was known for its horrendous outcomes. He knew this and still allowed me to

make the mood move. Fast forward a year later after taking the job and being back

in the same city as him, I found myself freshly fired and severely traumatized from the toxic

work environment I had experienced for the past year and still remained the girlfriend.

Having lost everything, I asked him to help me in any way he could, as he was

practically living at my place anyways, and with his parents, went free. When no help was given,

I started asking questions about getting engaged to which he responded that he felt pressure to do so.

Oh! It was an argument that went on for days which resulted in him leaving me.

To this day, I can't unhear the words.
