And then if you live in one you quite like them because you don't have tooled boy racers tooling up and down your street anymore or people cutting through to get to school and if you don't live in one you probably don't like them because it takes your ages to get somewhere now or even if you do live in one

let's not rule it out completely let's's keep our options open. But I just sat

here in the news and I thought to myself, really, the notion of a government coming out now with

big plans to expand North Sea oil drilling.

I just think it's more important, really, isn't it?

I know that you could probably, you could frame them as part of a culture war, I suppose.

I think Ed Miliband has suggested that they're just trying to turn the climate into the new front in the so-called culture war.

I'm still not entirely clear what a culture war is, to be honest with you.

Once you, if you leave transgender issues out of the equation completely, it just seems to be a conversation about racism, really.

Some people on one side think racism's great, and the rest of us think it's pretty awful. And that's your culture war. There it is. But I don't know, maybe I'm missing the nuance and the detail of the issue. But climate, I understand climate, turning climate into a culture war does work. Because telling people that they can do whatever the hell they want and sod the consequences is quite effective politically.

There's an awful lot of people out there who want to be told that they should be able to do whatever the hell they want and stuff the consequences.

And on the other side, you've got people saying things like, well, you know, it'd be nice if humanity didn't sort of end early.

It'd be nice if people weren't essentially burning parts of the world that have never seen fires on the scale that we've seen in the last couple of weeks. It'd be nice if that didn't happen a lot, wouldn't it? And maybe we could make a bit of a difference if we did this, that and the other. Certainly, I mean, a government can make a much bigger difference than I can. I recycling my tuner tins or whatever it may be.

I mean, that's a cultural war, but it's so... Do you know what? I don't know if I should tell you this. Hello, by the way. I hope you've had a nice couple of weeks. As you can tell, I'm quite bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. it won't last, but I have quite high energy levels at the moment.

I think I was going to do it. I wrote a lot while I was away. The reason I'm in quite a good

mood, for those of you who care, is because I think my book will actually be finished almost on time.
