wanted to talk about at the time. It was really quite unprecedented and remains so. But in normal

times, if there is such a thing anymore, in normal times, the idea of having the same

conversation around the same subject all day every day is, well, obviously it's deeply,

deeply suboptimal, but I do feel it's my job to come up with ways of returning to the

territory as often as possible without becoming repetitious or, God forbid, boring.

And I think today we've been helped out, actually, by the newly elected head of the

intergovernmental panel on climate change, a former teacher, former professor at Imperial

College London. So one of our own, as we say in footballing circles, if you constantly

communicate the message that we are all doomed to extinction, then that paralyzes people and

prevents them from taking the steps to get a grip on climate change. And I just found that

an absolutely riveting intervention.
