Steve, welcome to the program. Hi, Dr. Laura. How are you? Good. What can I do for you?

Okay, so I've been married a little bit more than three years.

We got married after a very short romance.

Really didn't get to know my wife that well.

About a year and a half or so into the marriage, I debated leading the marriage

because I was basically getting abused verbally being told

and like, you know, how to sit, how to stand, who to talk to, who not to talk to.

And after and also financially abused, she didn't really understand finances.

And I made a really good living and I had a lot of money in the bank and actually ended up

using a lot of it to try to save

the marriage and I'm in a bad financial situation now and I ended up leaving in October and filing

for divorce. I had developed severe anxiety and depression and it was actually interfering with my

ability to work. And then back in March, we started talking again, well, actually in November,

she reached out to me and we started kind of dating. And then in March, I moved back home

temporarily. My family's been against it. I had a therapist, have been against my marriage

telling me that, I mean, I don't want to give anybody a title, but saying that she was an

abusive narcissist. And so now we separated again. We're in divorce court. And when I originally

set up to have this call with you, I was debating not going through with the divorce. But it seems

like when I'm with her, I get severe anxiety. And everybody's telling me that she just wants me now for financial support.

My family, I have two older sons from a previous marriage that are very successful and I'm about 15 years older than her and they don't want me to stay in the marriage.

And I've had a really hard time making the decision of what I should be doing.
