Hi, Dr. Laura. Hi. Hi.

I'm struggling with my situation in life. I'm 56 about 357 and just to bring history, I married way too young and made a lot of bad choices in my life.

I have two grown children now and their father was never a part of their life. So I played Mom and Dad and I made a lot of mistakes.

I feel like I'm stuck. I didn't see myself alone. I thought I had this kind of a fear that I didn't want to grow old alone. I don't know if it's really a fear, but it's just something I didn't want for myself.

I feel like I'm trying to accept the fact now that I'm not really interested in pursuing any kind of relationship. I'm tired of that.

I'm trying to come to terms with being alone in my, you know, as I get old.

Okay, let me say a few things about that.

Okay, one of them is that there's purpose to your life, even if you are romantically quote alone.

Having a man having a romance having somebody there is wonderful.

However, if that's not going to be the case, and if it isn't the case, it's still not the totality of your life.

I'm trying to be a person.

Because it's reasonable. You're a woman and we don't we don't want to who very few people really want to be alone.

So let me explain something to you about me. I'm 76.

I'm alone except for Lily bugs and a lot of friends and activities. There's a whole lot more to my life than missing that element.

So I'm with you. I would think it's wonderful to have a companion all the way to the end. Probably not going to be.

However, that's not the totality of what life offers.

No, or what you or what you have to offer. So if anyone understands what you're talking about, it's me right now talking to you.

I understand that and it takes a while to reconcile and still you're only 57. I'm 76.

So your life has a little leeway for something to happen organically. Don't go chasing it because you usually end up making the wrong choices when you're chasing it.

Yes. But what else? What else are you worth? I mean, I hear you could be a wonderful companion until you're dead. But what else are you worth?

Seriously. I mean, I'm here helping you. That's what I'm worth.
