Well, where's this idea come about from?

So I looked after a patient who presented to the ED with slurred speech Good, all right, well, where's this idea come about from?

So I looked after a patient who presented to the ED with slurred speech and slow AF on their ECG.

They were pre-alerted as a query stroke.

And when they arrived in the ED, it turned out that actually they were hypothermic at 28 degrees.

We re-rewarmed them and their atrial fibrillation turned into normal sinus rhythm,

and they no longer had slurred speech once they were warm again.

Save that thrombolysis, that patient got much better, and I'm sure they would be at home by now.

Okay, so which parts of hypothermia are we're actually going to run through? So we're going to be looking specifically at accidental

hypothermia. So essentially we're going to be looking at patients who have a core body temperature

of less than 35 degrees Celsius. Okay.
