0:25.8	Hypospadias is a congenital condition affecting males from birth, where the urethral meatus,
0:33.5	which is the opening of the urethra on the penis, is abnormally displaced to the ventral side,
0:41.5	which is the underside of the penis towards the scrotum.
0:47.3	Usually the foreskin is abnormally formed to match the position of the meatus.
0:53.9	It's usually detected during the routine baby checks.
0:58.7	In most cases, the urethral opening is towards the bottom of the glands or the head of the penis.
1:06.4	Less commonly, it may be halfway down the shaft or even at the base of the penis.
1:13.9	Hypospedias may be associated with a condition called cordy, where the penis curves ventrally

1:36.3	Hypospedias requires referral to a pediatric urologist.
1:41.3	Mild cases may not require any treatment. Surgery may be required in more
1:48.5	significant cases. The aim of surgery is to correct the position of the meatus and straighten the penis.
1:56.1	It is usually performed at around 6 to 18 months of age.
2:07.4	Circumcision needs to be avoided until after they have specialist input and the urologist says it's okay.
