Summary

Andy Blow, founder of Precision Hydration is a former elite triathlete, who suffered a lot from cramping and sodium-depletion related performance drops. Especially in hot environments in his long course racing career. So he scratched his own itch and came up with a product range that solved his issues, which led to founding Precision Hydration, a company that makes a range of electrolyte products for athletes. IN THIS EPISODE YOU'LL LEARN ABOUT: -Why sodium is a critical component of your hydration strategy and what happens if it gets depleted. -The massive variance in sodium requirements between individuals, and why there's no one size fits all solution. -The free online sweat test you can take to determine your own individual sodium needs with good accuracy. -How to take that knowledge into practice and apply it in your hydration in training, racing, and leading up to races. 1:10.0

Andy Blow who is the founder of precision hydration,

1:14.0

a company that creates electrolyte solutions that triathletes can use and endurance athletes can

1:21.1

use to get their electrolytes that they need based on their individual requirements. And Andy is a former elite triathlet

1:30.5

himself and essentially he scratched his own itch after suffering a lot from cramping and

1:37.6

just lack of sodium as it turns out, especially in long-course racing.

1:49.4

So we'll talk about things like why sodium is such a critical component of your hydration strategy and the massive variance in sodium requirements between individuals

1:55.9

that results in there being no easy one-size-fits-all solution.

2:02.3

However, precision hydration has a free online sweat test that you can take to determine with good accuracy

2:10.0

what your own individual sodium needs are.

2:13.8

And we, of course, the bulk of the interview is actually how to take that knowledge into practice and apply this in your hydration, in training and racing, and in your hydration loading, if I can call it that, before races and all sorts of other things.

2:33.1

So I hope you enjoy this interview.
