I tried to do it last night,

Marshall, and I tried to be a good twins fan, and I failed.

I made it to the third inning.

And then I went to bed.

Am I a bad twins fan if I could not stay up for a game that lasted until O'Dark 30?

No, I don't think the players were awake through that whole one. Ken, all right, we agreed that that game was much too long. It was over four hours long. The first inning took, the first inning took an hour. I mean, I was watching it in real time. I was like, I can't believe how fucking long this inning is. Yeah, I badgered, I badgered my family into watching with me and they tapped out before the

end of the first. My wife was just like, I can't do this. And my son was just so crotchety and crabby.

And I said he should go do keyboard practice or whatever because it was coming up reasonably close to bedtime, even though it wasn't even out of the first. And he got all pissed off. He was saying, you made me watch this. You told me to come hang out and watch this. Now you're kicking me out. All right. So what can they do? Not bringing the generations together, Drew. What can they do to fix it? I'm not, I'm not suggesting like the standards or

fund bank hypotheticals where we only have two outs or, or, you know, or anything like that. But what can

they do to just, even in an unofficial capacity, move it along? Like, you know how the NFL?

It's, it's, it's, it's, it's really deep-seated structural problems because there's been an emphasis on pitchers throwing so much harder.

There's been so much research on how ineffective all that the best starting pitchers are the third time through the lineup.

There has been a decreased emphasis on contact, so hitters are striking out more.

So you're kind of at the outer limits of recognizable baseball because all that happens is

strikeouts and home runs. Because another thing is that with some of the new, the stat cast materials that teams and players have access to,

there's been an emphasis on lofting the ball, on the launch angle as it comes off the bat.

So really, everybody's just trying to hit home runs and doesn't really care what else happens,

which is a kind of optimized outcome if you're trying to win a ball game, but as a spectator

sport is really dull. What's exciting in a game are balls and play, errors, defensive plays,

guys on the bases, throws in from the outfield.

Those are all the fun things in baseball, and those are all the things that are happening

much less often.
