Summary

It still doesn’t feel real, TBH. On October 31, I ran myself a virtual marathon, and managed to snag myself a personal best time of 3:23:56. In today’s #HURDLEMOMENT episode, I’m giving the full recap — from the preparations before the big day and how I fueled to the biggest mistakes I made and how I felt when I … didn’t cross any actual finish line. Plus, how this big milestone felt different from last year’s (previous) personal best marathon in Chicago. Warning: tears, a few expletives, and a bunch of feels ahead.

26.2 ridiculous miles running through Manhattan, feeling like I'm flying by the seat of my pants.

And it was nothing I ever envisioned, but everything I could have ever asked for. Hey, everyone, Emily here, bringing you a really exciting installment of Hurtle moment from Hurtle.

0:37.1

The episode you have been waiting for make it sound super dramatic.

0:41.7

I wish I had like some dun dun dun kind of beats here.

My New York City Virtual Marathon Recap.

0:49.5

It's fun to do this today because I remember sitting on my couch recording the Chicago recap and thinking to

0:57.1

myself, wow, I feel like I am just spewing all of these feelings into this microphone

1:03.0

sitting on my couch and I have no idea if anyone is going to find any of this information

1:08.0

at all useful.

1:17.7

But, fun fact, the Chicago Marathon Recap is actually one of the episodes that I get the most feedback about.

1:19.5

And I feel as though that's because I really went into that episode without much of an

1:25.4

agenda, but rather with hopes to just give you my honest

1:28.7

feedback about what a big day that was for me. If you have yet to listen to the Chicago

1:33.8

Marathon Recap, I highly encourage you to do so. The link to that is in the show notes. If you

1:39.4

missed what happened back then, it's cool. We've got some newbies in the house.

Back in Chicago, October, 2019, I ran a personal best marathon time that was 3-208 and qualified for Boston, which in itself is super exciting, but more exciting for me was the fact

2:00.3

that that time for me was cutting off

2:04.5

about 20 minutes from my personal best marathon at least. So super emotional, super exciting,

2:12.6

which brings me to an even greater exciting subject, again, my virtual New York City Marathon.

2:20.8

I'm going to spoil what's happening here. I ran my virtual New York City Marathon on October 31st,

2:26.7

2020, an official virtual race, no official water stations or crowds or, oh God, so many things. And I did something,

2:41.0

I don't even know what I thought I was going to do that day, but it was crazy. And that's for
