Summary

I told myself for months and months now that virtual racing was NOT something I was on board with. Then, my curiosity got the best of me. Last week, I ran a half-marathon PR doing the Seawheeze Virtual Half, and this week — I'm talking all about it for #HURDLEMOMENT. In today's episode, I'm offering up my five best-practice tips if you too want to tackle a virtual race, and get real honest about how the effort made me feel. Today's real MVP is Brett Williams, who was my safe-and-socially-distanced rabbit for the adventure. Thanks, Bud, for pushing me to a new personal best!

This week, I am bringing you another installment of Hurtle moment from Hurtle. This week, I am bringing you the lessons I learned from actually executing a virtual race. It's something that I told myself

0:49.3

I wasn't going to do. But then when the challenge presented itself, I just couldn't hold back. And so I, a couple

0:58.6

weeks back, did the virtual seaweed half marathon. And I have some takeaways to offer you. Spoiler

1:07.1

alert, it was my fastest half marathon ever with a time of 14305. That's a 752 average pace.

1:16.5

Although after the fact, and I'll touch on this in today's episode, my Strava adjusted and told me that I actually ran 13.52 miles at a 740 pace. So God knows what's really going on here. I guess this is part

1:31.2

of the frustrations of virtual racing. Anyway, bringing you my lessons today for Hurtle moment. As always,

1:38.1

if you have a Hurtle moment of your own or just want to say hi, feel free to reach out to me over

email. It's Emily at Hurtle.us. I'm also curious if you are virtual racing, if you're not virtual racing,

1:48.4

do you think that these are fun? Do you think that these are lame? I want to know. So feel

1:53.1

free to tag me or DM me at Emily Abadi or at Hurdle podcast. And one last request for

2:00.4

this hurdle moment Wednesday. We are in September

2:03.8

and I still want to keep this push of ratings and reviews alive. So if you could just do me this

2:09.5

one solid, head on into the iTunes store, rate and review the show. If you have yet to do so,

2:16.2

it means the world to me and it helps hurdle, move up the

2:19.4

charts, get new eyes on it, all the things, which gives me all the feels. Thank you for being a part

2:26.3

of my community. And with that, let's get to hurtling. I would like to think that I am a pretty self-motivated person. I'm a morning person, although some days I might feel groggy.

2:44.4

I have like no problem getting up, getting out, running on the days that kind of feel like I don't want to, just because I truly believe

2:53.3

and understand that I'm going to feel better after that effort, after that jumpstart to my day.
