Summary
First and foremost: Fast is interpretive. When I started running back in college, I was running a half-mile in 14 minutes, trying to learn to love a sport that I was "never good at." Fast forward to now: I’ve run a 6:04 mile, a 1:44:39 half-marathon, and a 3:28:08 full. In today’s #HURDLEMOMENT, I’m sharing strategies on how to become a faster runner. From incorporating speed work into your regular running routine to finding the right gear to help you find your fast, these are all tips and tricks that have worked for me when it comes to picking up the pace.

| 0:00.0 | If I hadn't run a 14 minute half mile every single day in the summer of 2008, I would have never become a 3-2808 marathoner. |
| 0:14.6 | Finding your fast takes patience. |
| 0:17.9 | And let me tell you something, you have it in you. |
| 0:34.3 | Hey, Hurtlers, Emily Abadi, bringing you another installment of Hurtle moment from Hurtle. This |
| 0:39.9 | week, I am bringing you the topic that so many have been asking for. How do I become a faster |
| 0:48.2 | runner? Now, first things first to mention, fast is interpretive, which means that for some people, |
| 0:56.2 | fast is running a mile in under 15 minutes. For me, when I started running back in college, |
| 1:03.3 | I was running a half mile every single day. And that half mile took me 14 minutes. So when I got to a place where I felt more comfortable with my stride, |
| 1:14.8 | fast for me for a mile was anything sub 10 minutes. |
| 1:19.3 | And that number, again, will change for everyone. |
| 1:23.0 | Some other contexts, I mean my first ever half marathon, |
| 1:26.3 | I ran in two hours, 43 minutes, and 33 seconds, |
| 1:29.7 | and my fastest ever half marathon was about an hour less than that in 14439 earlier this year in |
| 1:38.3 | Miami. I'm not going to lie. I know I have so much more gas in the tank for that. I'm also an eight-time full marathon runner. |
| 1:47.3 | My first ever marathon I ran in 40319 up in Hartford, Connecticut, and my fastest marathon just last |
| 1:55.3 | year in 3.28.8. Now, aside from the fact that I love to run and I do a lot of it, what makes me |
| 2:05.2 | qualified to give you this insight? Well, I am a U.S.CA certified run coach that stands for the United |
| 2:13.2 | Endurance Sports Coaching Academy. And I also talk to a lot of people about running. I mean, my |
| 2:19.8 | every day is chatting with experts and writing articles for some of the top editorial outlets |
| 2:25.9 | there are, ranging from runners' world to GQ, men's health, women's health, et cetera. So I'd like |
| 2:31.4 | to think that I've got a little know-how on the subject. Again, |
| 2:35.8 | I cannot reiterate this enough. Fast is different for everyone. But regardless of what your |
