Go to 1 Corinthians the 12th chapter, if you would.

We've been talking for some weeks now on this subject of being hungry for the Holy Spirit.

Somebody say hungry.

Hungry for the Holy Spirit.

Did the Lord tell us to be hungry for the things of the Spirit?

Oh, yeah.

So we've been stirring ourselves up and we've been believing God for revelation and understanding

of the ways of the Spirit, the gifts and manifestations of the Holy Spirit.

So in 1 Corinthians the 12th chapter,

so many good things about the gifts of the Spirit in this chapter,

one of the most outstanding in the New Testament,

he said in the last verse of chapter 12, 1 Corinthians 12, 31, he said,

but covet earnestly the best gifts and yet show I unto you a more excellent way.

Covet earnestly the best gifts. Now most of the time,

when you see the word covet in the scripture, it's telling you don't. Don't covet.

Your neighbor's wife or husband or ox or house or car or stuff don't covet things that are bad

and evil don't covet other people's stuff but here he says covet this he could have just said

desire it but he used a stronger word and covet would have have been strong, but then he said, covet earnestly.

Are we getting the message?

Should we long for these things?

Yearn for them.

Reach for them.
