Summary

The release of The Privileges Committee's report into whether Boris Johnson knowingly misled parliament has caused a war of words in the press. Several MPs have announced that they will vote against the report when it comes to House of Commons on Monday. What's the latest?

Also on the podcast, Boris Johnson is expected to be announced as the Mail's 'erudite' new columnist in tomorrow's edition. Does Johnson need a political office in order to cause trouble?

James Heale speaks to Katy Balls and Fraser Nelson.

Produced by Cindy Yu and Oscar Edmondson.

and Katie Bulls. Now, yesterday we had the Privilege Committee report

0:27.2

1:05.2

be on where the Boris Johnson who could no longer be suspended because he is not an MP, then it would

1:09.6

be in a very long three months' suspension. But when he should not be allowed to get the commons

1:15.0

passed that former MPs tend to receive, this is what happened to John Berko, if you remember,

1:20.3

he was not allowed to have this commons passed, so he could not set foot in Parliament

1:24.6

but in the way that other former MPs have done. And I think it's very likely that this punishment

1:30.8

will pass in the sense that the government is not whipping it. You're not really meant to whip

1:35.6

standard votes like this in the first place. Owen Paterson to Berko was a break away from this

1:41.0

and therefore, Labour will vote for it, Lib Dems vote for it, but it will be an interesting
