Today's 10-minute walk is helping both of us remain fitness consistent. Hi, I'm Dave. Let's go for a walk.

Today I want to talk about five ways, five tangible specific ways, that walking is helping me to age better.

wondering age better than what. Well, I'll get to that in just a moment. But I want to talk about

five ways, five specific ways that walking is helping me to age better. Number one, this walk that I'm taking, this walk that you're taking,

is an investment in my health.

The research indicates when we are walking consistently,

walking with some intensity,

walking with intentionality,

we are lowering the risk of heart disease, we're lowering the risk of certain types of cancer, we're lowering the risk of type 2 diabetes.

Walking is helping me to manage my weight, it's helping me to manage my blood pressure and cholesterol.

So when I'm walking consistently, I'm lowering the risk of all kinds of bad health outcomes.

And that is helping me to age better.

Number two, even though walking is considered cardio exercise,

there is still an impact that it has on my strength,

the strength of my legs, the strength of my glutes, the strength of my core.
