Did you know that if you are willing to walk, you can actually give yourself an entirely different perspective on something that you thought you already knew?

Welcome to Walking is Fitness. This is a podcast of action, providing a little extra motivation to help you keep that fitness promise you made to yourself because that really is the hardest part of fitness.

I am Dave. I've been walking for fitness since 2013, averaging just under 21,000 steps a day. I am walking right now and would love to have you

0:38.8

join me for the next 10 minutes. So I have mentioned from time to time my love of baseball and having

0:47.0

grown up in Maryland, huge fan of the Baltimore Orioles. Went to many games, both at Memorial Stadium.

0:55.7

That was the old place where the Orioles play. And then Camden Yards, which has been open now for 30 years. Well, the way Camden Yards

1:04.8

is set up, if you're willing to walk, you can actually watch a baseball game and see it from a perspective

1:13.6

that you've probably never seen before. So typically the way I and most of us go to a game is we

either on the first level, second level, or the club level, you know, with the fancy suites.

1:42.7

And I have done that.

1:46.5

But within the last handful of years, I've discovered a new way to watch a game at

1:53.0

Camden Yards.

1:53.7

And by the way, Camden Yards is not the only stadium where you can do this.

1:57.9

Now, I haven't been to all of them, so I don't know how pervasive this is,

2:03.1

but I've been to a few of them and have done this very thing. But Camden Yards is perfect for it.

2:09.1

So on the lower level, you can actually walk. There's a walkway right there where you enter the what they call the seating bowl

2:21.1

and then you go down the steps to your seat. Well there's a concourse, a walkway that goes around

2:28.8

the entire stadium and then in the outfield you can walk behind the uh the bullpen area and then camden

2:40.1

yards has this wonderful place called utal street actually used to be a street where cars and trucks

2:45.2

and people walked long before they built a stadium there and there's that iconic warehouse on one side and the stadium on the other.
