And today we're talking about an issue that you might have seen. It's been covered a lot in the

corporate media, but as you can imagine, there's been a lot of misinformation, fake news, and

propaganda about it, war propaganda.

I'm talking about Ethiopia, Eritrea, and overall the Horn of Africa region.

This is an extremely geostrategic region.

The U.S. government and other imperialist powers have, for centuries, meddled in the Horn of Africa, trying to control

the strategic region. And today we're joined by an expert on the Horn of Africa and an expert on

the politics and history of Ethiopia and Eritrea. We're speaking with the Eritrean journalist Elias Amare.

He is going to talk today about what is actually happening in the Horn of Africa

because if you've seen any of the media coverage, it's been really hyperbolic.

You know, there's been these claims that supposedly by the US government,

these claims that supposedly Ethiopia and U.S. government, these claims that supposedly

Ethiopia and also its ally Eritrea are committing genocide or horrible atrocities against this group

called the TPLF, the Tigrayan People's Liberation Front, which is portrayed by the U.S. government

and other Western governments and the media,

supposedly as this great benevolent humanitarian group, when in reality it was the TPLF

that in November of 2020 initiated a war by attacking the government of Ethiopia.

So before we get in, I don't want to get into it yet, just as a general overview.
