So without further ado, here's what's driving today.

First up, I have some fresh reporting on Michigan's junior Senator Alyssa Slotkin. Since she delivered her party's response to President

Donald Trump's joint session address earlier this year, it seems like she's been everywhere.

And she's showing up farther and farther from her

home state of Michigan. Yesterday, I spent some time with her on the ground in Kansas City, Missouri.

Playbook sat in as she met with about seven voters, both Republicans and Democrats, and listened to

them. They were specifically voters who didn't show up at the ballot box last

November and mixed Republicans and Democrats. And she really tried to get under the hood and figure

out why they didn't vote. And she heard a pretty grim assessment of both parties. And it was a

glimpse into kind of a post-apocalyptic American political landscape where people

have lost trust in institutions.

They've lost trust in parties.

And it was interesting they were talking about the last candidates who inspired them to vote.
