What's going on everyone? How's it going? Hope you're doing well. Today we're talking about pine needles and it might seem like a strange topic because what's the purpose of pine needles in the garden? Well, there are quite a few as well as in the home and so we're

going to talk today about what can we use pine needles for and why we should

consider harvesting them or collecting them in our gardens. So you know if you've got a bunch of pine trees and they

the needles drop it might seem like a bit of a hassle but actually you can do

quite a bit with them you can start fires with them you can do quite a bit with them.

You can flavor your teas and vinegars.

You can actually use them as smoker products

to like season your meats in a grill or something like that.

There's a lot of different things that you can do.

However, you can also use them as mulch.

Now you don't want to use a whole ton of them,

but you can mix them into your mulch as a way to keep the acidity of the

soil down. And you can also use them sort of as a pest and rodent prevention because they don't really like that scent and they don't really like to interact with it.

So if you've got a decent amount of them crushed up and mixed into your mulch and then spread over your garden,

that can help with some insect and pest issues.

Now, where are you going to get some pine needles?

Well, if you have a pine tree, you already know the answer.

So if you plan on making pine mulch,

one thing that you'll want to do

is keep the area under your pine trees

kind of free of weeds and other stuff.
