Last year was my first big taste in digital activism.

When George Floyd happened like many of you, I'm sure felt like you wanted to do something

like right away, and I was consuming all of this stuff, but it was making me so frustrated

because the problem was just incredibly gigantic and so systemic.

I really just wanted to focus on one thing that I thought I could help build a movement

California, where I live, happens to have the most incarcerated people in the United States.

And one of the people that can really influence change in the criminal justice system

is the district attorney.

And so I was trying to figure out how do we get a more progressive DA in Los Angeles.

I was someone who was completely new to local politics.

I had no idea even what a district attorney did.

I ended up reaching out to all of these local organizations that were already building

these movements behind the DA.

Every single organization that I reached out to all needed help with building movements
