Hi, my name is Lewis Howes and welcome to the Daily Motivation Show.

How do you navigate that warrior fear of like, well, I'm not at my best still.

You know, I'm not still not emotionally fully there maybe or I'm a little off.

It's at the end of the week. How do you overcome that thought? Sure. What I've learned is, you know,

you can't control your thoughts. Your thoughts are always going to be percolating in your mind,

but you can be in charge of them. So I'm in charge of my thoughts and my thoughts generate my

feelings and my feelings generate my actions. So I focus on when I hear and still to this day,

sometimes I'll get that nervous edge when I'm operating or before I'm operating. I'll say,

wait a minute, hold on, I know you. I've heard that voice before. I've heard that. Okay,

if something goes wrong at the moment that it goes wrong, I will take care of before. I've heard that, okay, if something goes wrong, at the moment that

it goes wrong, I will take care of it. You are trained. You are enough. That's it. Don't think about the

outcome. The outcome doesn't define you. I learned that lesson, you know, took me 16 years to learn

that lesson in neurosurgery.

Really?

I'm going to show up for work.

I'm going to do my job.

And there's going to be desirable outcomes.

And there's going to be undesirable outcomes.

And that's the way, that's the business I've chosen.

And so that you have to accept that.

I had this one experience very early on in my career where I got called to the ear.

Literally within a month of my first job, I got called to see a patient who was quadriplegic.
